Can't get subs on WMP wif mkv files

Title explains itself. So far even media player classic doesn't work. Only VLC works but is very jumpy, ruins the experience. Any explanations???

Have you tried installing a codec pack like CCCP or K-Lite?

hm i use media player classic with cccp to play .mkv files and i've had no trouble seeing the subtitles.
